For the areas we are primarily concerned with we have transcribed a number of Church Parish Registers, Census Returns, Rate Books and some Electoral Rolls to help build a ‘social history’ of the locality.  

The Church Registers are those of St. Laurence Church, Northfield, St. John’s, Halesowen, St. Michael & All Angels, Bartley Green and California Chapel.

 The Census Returns are 1841 to 1901.   

1861 for Bartley Green (added Nov. 2006). 

The parish of Northfield was divided into several Yields, i.e. Selley, Middleton, Hay, Shendley and Bartley.  The Rate Books (amount of money people had to pay based on the rental value of their property) transcribed are for Bartley Yield, therefore they cover all of the area rather than those we primarily research.
